課程概述

This course provides the advanced electromagnetic (EM) theory and applications. Students may learn from this class with the following aspects:
1. to review and revisit the fundamental concepts of basic EM
2. to explore the advanced EM theory developed in recent decades
3. to investigate selected topics in the modern EM research

Ch-1 Fundamental Concepts and Field Equations
Ch-2 Wave equations and Poynting Theorem
Ch-3 Wave propagation and polarization
Ch-4 Reflection and Transmission in Layered Media (surface waves & complex waves)
Ch-5 Advanced EM theory: Uniqueness, Duality, Image thm, Equivalent Priciple, Reciprocity, Babibet's Principle and Booker's Relation
Ch-6 Radiation: antenna physics and radar cross section
Ch-7 Scattering: Rayleigh and PO approximation, Forward scattering theory, Dyadic Green's Function, Cylindrical waves
Ch-8 Periodic gratting scattering: analytical,numerical, and approximated methods
Ch-9 Selected topics: Plasma and Metamaterial Physics
CH-10 Term Project: group study on suggested research topics
